Dr Daniel Sheppard

Clinical Psychologist

Dr Daniel Sheppard is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with the British Psychological Society, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. In addition to his clinical doctorate, Dr Sheppard has a Master’s degree and PhD in Psychology, and has published several papers on autism and everyday functioning. Prior to his work as a psychologist, he spent several years as a qualified teacher in the UK, working predominantly in schools for young people with additional and complex needs.

Approach

Dr Sheppard is a compassionate, person-centred Clinical Psychologist who places the client/therapist relationship at the heart of therapy. Throughout his career, he has spent many years working collaboratively with people to help make sense of their difficulties and their ability to navigate the challenges and demands of contemporary, everyday life. Dr Sheppard’s focus on neurodiversity has led to an increased appreciation of individuality, and of the different factors that influence the unique way in which a person relates to themselves and the world around them. He uses an integrative approach to meet clients’ specific needs, this work incorporates aspects of various evidence-based approaches including; Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy informed by relational/systemic thinking.

Research

Dr Daniel has a keen interest in research and has published and presented several papers at numerous national and international conferences. Dr Daniel has supervised and assessed research thesis of MSc and BA psychology courses. He has been the lead researcher for 7 published studies.
