Dr Louise Clarke is the owner and director of The Consulting Clinic Ltd. She is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist.

Dr Clarke is is one of Ireland’s leading, most experienced psychologists with expertise in the field of adult mental health, She has extensive specialist experience in assessment and evidence based treatment across all areas of adult mental health.

Dr Clarke is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland and with The British Psychological Society. This title is awarded in recognition of several years’ experience and contribution to the field of psychology and reflects the highest standard of psychological training. In order to achieve this level of accreditation, Psychologists must have a recognised first degree in psychology and have successfully completed an accredited postgraduate training. Dr Clarke studied for 8 years full-time in psychology.

Dr Clarke received her undergraduate degree in Ireland, before undertaking postgraduate training in the United Kingdom. After completing a Masters degree and a Postgraduate degree in Psychology, she completed a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. Dr Clarke’s UK qualifications have been validated in Ireland by the validation unit, Irish Department of Health.

Dr Clarke is 43 years old, married and is a mother of two. She trained and worked in the UK for 12 years where she gained valuable experience. She enjoys sport in her spare time having represented Ireland internationally, in equestrianism before pursuing her career in Psychology. She enjoys learning and is committed to providing evidence based practice and helping clients overcome their difficulties and connect with their values.

Training & Lecturing

Dr Clarke is passionate about sharing knowledge. She is an APT (Association of Psychological Therapies) trainer and delivered CBT, DBT and Mindfulness training to healthcare workers in both the NHS and private sector. She has extensive experience of training frontline health care staff in DBT.
She also has contributed to lecturing in University College Dublin on the Postgraduate Certificate in Acute Mental Health Interventions and The Higher Diploma in Mental Health Nursing.

Dr Clarke’s practice is rooted in cutting-edge psychology research and scientific evidence based treatment models. She offers Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (Mindfulness based Cognitive Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) as well as Psychodynamic Therapy.
