Dr Lara Madden

Chartered Counselling Psychologist

Dr. Lara Madden is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with experience across a broad range of settings including Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Adult Mental Heath services, Primary Care, forensic and hospital settings.

Dr Lara completed her undergraduate Psychology degree in Maynooth University before going on to complete her Masters degree in the UK where she gained experience working in the NHS before returning to Ireland to complete her Doctoral training.

Dr Lara has worked with clients across the lifespan providing psychological assessment, formulation and therapeutic intervention. Dr Lara has a special interest in developmental trauma and its impact and working therapeutically with this. Lara is also trained in Attachment-Based Family Therapy.

Alongside her work in The Consulting Clinic, Dr Lara works full time in a medical Paediatric Psychology service.

Approach

In Dr Lara’s therapeutic work, she uses an integrative approach to meet clients specific needs, this work incorporates aspects of various evidence-based approaches, that she has received specific training in including; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassion Focussed Therapy, Attachment Based Family Thearpy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Mindfulness and Motivational Interviewing.

  • Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, Trinity College Dublin

  • MSc Abnormal and Clinical Psychology, Swansea University

  • Psychology Degree, Maynooth University.

  • Chartered Psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI)
